Cool Idea for a Way to Use Extra Floss

I belong to a couple of exchange groups and sometimes people will send off-brand floss which I don't want to use in my stitching. I also don't want to send floss on to someone else that I wouldn't use myself. I love this idea for using up my extra floss!

February House complete

Finished my February House and used the word priorities! Watched Whitney Houston's funeral and I expected great music and there was. But the part that touched me most was her pastor's sermon on keeping your eye on the priorities and even if you forget God is still right there beside you; already planning how to turn your detour into good.

Every Stitch Counts SAL

I am doing the monthly SAL with the Every Stitch Counts. We will be stitching a new house each month. Each house has a place for nameplate on it for stitchers to put what every words they like. I am doing a different word each month to represent the things I want to concentrate on in my spiritual life. For January, I used the word Faith. Every day this month, I spent some quiet time stitching my house and meditating on my word.

My Lastest Project

This is my current project I am working on this week called "Cat Lessons for People by Lizzie Kate Designs. My sister gave me this pattern last Christmas. I love it and I am finally working on something for me. I tend to give most of the things I made away to other people as gifts. I changed the cat to match the coloring of my beautiful Persian cat, Beth, who died last year.

                                Completed Christmas Projects for 2011

I am finally able to show the ornaments I created for people in 2011 since they all have them in hand now.  This is the first year I've tried to make ornaments instead of buying them and I loved stitching ornaments and sending love to the people I was making them for one stitch at a time. All patterns are from Just Crossstitch magazine's ornament issues from the last three years.

The first one is the finish of my dragon ornament a mom and its baby that I made for my niece, Kylie, who loves dragons.

The second one is the front and back of one I made for my sister, Brenda, who loves felines! :)

This is the ornament I made for my niece-in-law, Shelly, who loves Starbucks.

This is the ornament I made for my brother-in-law, John. It is hard to see my I got to use Rainbow's fuzzy floss on Santa's hat ball. The snowflake is shiny floss and beards.

This ornament is for my nephew, Brandon. A touch of Christmas humor.

This ornament was for my friend, Deanna, who's first grandchild is the delight of her life.

I gave this one to my personal doctor who does so much for all his patients.

Completed Christmas Gifts 2010

The following two pieces were larger gifts from last Christmas that I thought I would share.

This piece I made for my niece, Kylie. It was actually for her graduation but I ended giving it to her at Christmas when it was finally done. I let her pick the frame. Kylie loves dragons.

This was a Christmas present for my sister, Brenda, who has a large collection of cactus. Brenda picked out the frame and it goes so well with the piece. This was a free pattern from the DMC website. You can see her dog, Chewy, in this picture.

Bibs for my Friend's babies

I just finished two bibs for my friend's babies who will be here soon. The first one is for a doctor I work with and he and his wife are having a boy. The second one is for my friend, Kennan's baby girl, Ava, who is due any second. I have a book with animals in it and I picked out ones I thought were cute.

Christmas rabbit

This little guy started out as a kit but I didn't like the thread. It was terrible and they even called it yarn. I used floss I had leftover from other projects. He will become a Christmas card when finished.
